Responsibilities

The Tax Senior Associate will be a pivotal member of our tax team, providing leadership and expertise in delivering high-quality tax preparation services to our clients. This role requires a strong foundation in US taxation principles, advanced technical skills, and the ability to lead and deliver high-quality output while working remotely or in a hybrid work environment.

 

Responsibilities

  • Prioritize US state and local tax workload. Some review of federal partnership tax returns.
  • Conduct detailed review of state and local partnership tax returns and related forms.
  • Conduct detailed review of state and local C corporation and S corporation tax returns and related forms.
  • Assist with review of state gross receipt tax returns.
  • Some preparation of complicated state income tax returns.
  • Review state tax workpapers, including state tax modifications and allocation and apportionment.
  • Supervise and review work of other team members on assigned client engagements.
  • Perform technical tax research.
  • Assist with preparation of state tax nexus studies.
  • Complete and ensure completion of accurate, neat, organized research and work papers that are free of errors.
  • Consult and communicate with SALT team members.
  • Stay abreast of changes in tax legislation.

 

Qualifications

 

    • Approximately 2-3 years of experience in state and local tax. Preparation and/or review experience of state income and franchise tax returns preferred.
    • Strong proficiency in the use of technology and basic PC applications (Excel, Word, Outlook).
    • Experience with tax research databases such as Bloomberg and Checkpoint.
    • Experience with Asset Keeper or CCH Fixed Assets.
    • Proficient in CCH Axcess or CCH ProSystem fx and Caseware.
