We are seeking an experienced Payroll Analyst to join our healthcare organization’s finance team. This role is critical in ensuring the accurate and timely processing of payroll for both salaried employees and fee-for-service healthcare providers. The ideal candidate will bring a strong working knowledge of Workday, advanced Microsoft Excel skills, and a deep understanding of healthcare payroll complexities, including variable compensation models and compliance with industry regulations.

 

Responsibilities

  • Accurately process and review payroll for both salaried staff and fee-for-service clinical personnel using Workday.
  • Ensure payroll is processed in compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations, including healthcare-specific labor and tax rules.
  • Maintain and audit detailed payroll records, ensuring integrity of compensation data across systems.
  • Reconcile payroll transactions and liaise with the accounting team to reconcile general ledger accounts and prepare payroll-related journal entries.
  • Analyze and resolve payroll discrepancies and respond to employee inquiries regarding compensation, benefits, deductions, and tax withholdings.
  • Collaborate closely with HR and Finance departments to ensure accurate data transfer and support compensation planning.
  • Generate custom reports and dashboards in Excel for internal stakeholders and regulatory audits.
  • Support quarter-end and year-end processes including W-2s, 941s, and audit documentation.
  • Assist in ongoing payroll system enhancements or integrations in Workday, including testing and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, HR, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a healthcare or clinical environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Workday is required.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, formulas) along with the Google Workspace suite of tools (Drive, Docs, Sheets, etc.).
  • In-depth knowledge of payroll laws, compliance standards, and reporting requirements in the healthcare sector.
  • High level of accuracy, analytical thinking, and discretion in handling sensitive employee data.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills; must be comfortable with detailed calculations requiring accuracy and reviewing and receiving feedback from other team members on calculations performed
  • Ability to work independently and escalate appropriately
  • Availability for substantial overlap with U.S. Eastern Standard time (5-6 hours/day minimum preferred).
  • Prior experience working with U.S.-based payroll functions including related deductions (taxes, health care, retirement, etc.)
