Overview

GR8 Global is a firm forged by an affinity of top 100 accounting firms in the United States with the objective of coming together and redefining the workplace while providing additional value to our partners. We believe that there is a huge pool of talent outside of the US. Our mission is to bring together the best talent and match them with excellent work opportunities based on their core competencies, skill sets, and overall experience and exposure in the different areas of audit, accounting, and similar financial-related areas. We prioritize creating a positive and inclusive workplace culture where all talents are valued and developed.

We're seeking an Automation & Integrations Engineer (API/RPA) to design, build, and manage secure, reliable automations that reduce manual effort and enhance data quality. This role involves using tools like n8n, Microsoft Power Automate (Cloud/Desktop), Python, and Azure services to integrate internal and external systems (REST/Graph APIs), extract structured data from PDFs using OCR, and deliver observable, testable workflows. The engineer will ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., NIST, CIS, SOC 2, HIPAA, GLBA), collaborate with stakeholders, document solutions clearly, and track measurable business impact.

Responsibilities

Essential functions

  • Design, build, and maintain automation workflows in n8n and Microsoft Power Automate (Cloud/Desktop), with Python services as needed.
  • Implement document processing pipelines: ingest PDFs, apply OCR/document intelligence, extract/normalize fields, validate against business rules, and post to downstream systems.
  • Build secure API integrations with internal and third‑party systems (REST/Microsoft Graph).
  • Develop reusable components and connectors (n8n custom nodes/credentials, Power Automate custom connectors) and define coding/usage standards.
  • Implement end‑to‑end observability: structured logging, metrics, dashboards, and Teams alerting; define and meet SLAs/SLOs.
  • Ensure robust error handling and exception workflows across automations.
  • Produce clear documentation, including architecture diagrams, runbooks, and user guides.
  • Collaborate with the Automation Manager to gather requirements, map processes, define acceptance criteria, and iteratively deliver solutions.
  • Align automations with REDW security and compliance standards (NIST/CIS), including audit‑friendly logging with sensitive data redaction, data classification, and retention.
  • Participate in change management (tickets, release notes, CAB reviews) and in incident response and root‑cause analysis; implement preventive improvements.
  • Perform data mapping and transformation; validate schemas and enforce data quality controls before creating/updating records.
  • Maintain backup/export/version control for workflows and connectors; plan and test rollback and disaster recovery.
  • Evaluate and select the right tool for each use case (n8n, Power Automate, Python, or Azure services) based on maintainability, security, performance, and cost.
  • Track and communicate business impact (time saved, error reduction, throughput); maintain KPIs and continuously optimize workflows.

Knowledge and Skill

  • Automation platforms: n8n and Microsoft Power Automate (Cloud/Desktop); Python for services and integrations.
  • Document intelligence: OCR, PDF ingestion, field extraction/normalization, business rule validation, and posting to downstream systems.
  • API integration security and resilience: REST, Microsoft Graph, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, API key management, pagination, rate limiting, retries/backoff, and schema validation.
  • Reusability and standards: building n8n custom nodes/credentials and Power Automate custom connectors; establishing and enforcing coding and usage standards.
  • Observability and reliability: structured logging, metrics, dashboards, Teams alerting; defining and managing SLAs/SLOs.
  • Error handling patterns and exception workflow design.
  • Technical documentation skills: architecture diagrams, runbooks, user guides; clear written communication.
  • Business analysis and delivery: requirements gathering, process mapping, acceptance criteria, iterative/agile delivery; stakeholder communication.
  • Security and compliance: NIST/CIS alignment; audit‑friendly logging; sensitive data redaction; data classification and retention.
  • IT service management and operations: change management (tickets, release notes, CAB), incident response, root‑cause analysis, and preventive improvements.
  • Data engineering fundamentals: data mapping/transformation, schema validation, and data quality controls.
  • Configuration management and resilience: backup/export/version control for automations; rollback planning; disaster recovery concepts.
  • Solution evaluation: weighing maintainability, security, performance, and cost; selecting among n8n, Power Automate, Python, and Azure services.
  • Measurement and optimization: defining and tracking KPIs; quantifying time savings, error reduction, and throughput; continuous improvement mindset.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of professional experience building automations or integrations in production environments.
  • Hands-on experience with an automation/workflow platform; n8n strongly preferred or willingness/ability to learn quickly.
  • Strong understanding of REST APIs, JSON, OAuth 2.0/OIDC, API keys, and secure token handling.
  • Practical experience with OCR/document extraction tools or services (e.g., Azure Document Intelligence/Form Recognizer, Tesseract, AWS Textract, or Google Document AI).
  • Solid grasp of secure coding, secrets management, and least-privilege access; ability to work within NIST/CIS-aligned policies.
  • Experience designing resilient workflows: retries, backoff, and exception handling.
  • Strong communication skills; ability to document and explain solutions to technical and non-technical audiences.

WFH TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Minimum Internet Speed: 50-100 Mbps
  • Dedicated Home Office Area: Private, quiet workspace
  • Business Continuity Plan: Power and Internet Backup is a MUST
