Responsibilities

Job Summary:

The Tax Associate will support the tax team in preparing accurate and timely US tax returns and related workpapers for individual and business clients. This role is ideal for an early-career tax professional with foundational knowledge of US taxation, strong attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a remote or hybrid environment while continuing to build technical tax skills.

 

How You'll Make an Impact:

  • Prepare basic US individual tax returns, including Form 1040 and supporting schedules, under the guidance of senior team members.
  • Assist in preparing business tax returns, including Forms 1065, 1120, and 1120S, based on client-provided data and workpapers.
  • Gather, organize, and reconcile tax documents and financial information needed for return preparation.
  • Prepare tax workpapers, schedules, and supporting documentation in accordance with firm standards.
  • Identify missing information, inconsistencies, or basic tax issues and escalate them to senior team members for review.
  • Perform basic tax research and stay updated on relevant federal and state tax rules as assigned.
  • Maintain accurate records and ensure assigned tasks are completed within agreed timelines.
  • Collaborate with team members to support tax season deadlines and client service requirements.

Qualifications

Your Desired Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of experience in tax preparation, accounting, or a related role, preferably with exposure to US taxation. 1040 background is a must have.
  • Basic understanding of US individual and business tax concepts, forms, and filing requirements.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work with financial data accurately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and willingness to learn tax preparation software and firm tools.
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to follow instructions, meet deadlines, and ask clarifying questions when needed.
  • Must be dependable, organized, and able to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Onsite work in Makati required for the 1st year; Flexibility may be provided during typhoons, severe weather advisories, natural disasters, or similar emergency situations.
  • Night shift required.

Bonus:

  • Experience working with US public accounting firms or US-based clients.
  • Familiarity with tax software such as UltraTax, CCH Axcess, CCH Engagement, and Thomson Reuters GoFileRoom, or similar platforms.
  • CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification is preferred but not required.
  • Eagerness to learn, receive feedback, and grow into more complex tax preparation responsibilities.
